The pay-per-view will be SmackDown’s last single-brand event as WWE will revert to dual-brand shows following WrestleMania starting with Backlash in May.
Date: February 22, 2015
Location: FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee, United States
First event: Fastlane (2015)
That decision was made in large part because of the poor quality of SmackDown, which has been plagued by dwindling attendance, struggling TV viewership and an overall dip in quality since WrestleMania 33 last year.
The blame for SmackDown’s lackluster product cannot be put on the shoulders of its talent, but rather, comes down to pedestrian booking that has overlooked or badly booked many of the show’s best stars.
Fastlane is a chance for WWE to right the ship in time for WrestleMania 34, and the good news is that the pay-per-view’s card actually looks very good on paper and could potentially help SmackDown regain the momentum it badly needs.
Bouts like The New Day vs. The Usos and the Six Pack Challenge match for the WWE Championship could be fantastic in-ring encounters, but ultimately, what’s more important is that those matches create intriguing twists and turns that will up the excitement with WrestleMania less than a month away.
Shinshuk Nakamura won the men’s Royal Rumble match two months ago and immediately announced his decision to meet AJ Styles in the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Fans really want to see this dream, but Styles must first survive in the Six-Pack Challenge against John Sina, Kevin Owens, Sami Zain, Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler.
Cena also decided to win this game, while desperately trying to capture the main event in Mania, losing the battle in Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber.
Asuka won the match with the real female comb and has yet to decide which champion to perform at the Immortals Showcase on April 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
However, the result of defending Champion Champions title Charlotte Flair against Ruby Riott could help Empress Tomorrow solve it.
Becky Lynch and Naomi v. Natalia and Carmella
It is difficult to predict the outcome of this game, and it is even more difficult to imagine what plans the WWE leadership has for the four women participating in this game.
Carmella has not yet invested money in her “Money in the Bank” portfolio, but she could have taken a page from Seth Rollins’ book and won the title at WrestleMania.
If this plan, then we must expect that Mrs. Money in the Bank and Natalia win, because the first will have to build momentum against Mania.
But a safer bet now will be to recover the former SmackDown champion, Becky Lynch and Naomi.
Winners: Becky Lynch and Naomi
Shinsuke Nakamura v. Rusev
Rusev took the world by surprise and receives loud exclamations in each field he visits, although he is a heel (bad guy).
Many would like the Bulgarian soil to defeat Nakamura, but the “King of Strong Style” is set to match the WrestleMania dream, and will need a big boost before a big night.
Nakamura, of course, will be the winner.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
US Champion UU Bobby Rude vs. Randy Orton
This is a match in which there are all the inclinations of an instant classic that can steal the show.
Bobby Rude and Randy Orton are two of the most decorated veterans in the fight today, and a few years ago this type of fight was considered a dream.
In fact, there does not seem to be a winner, since Ginger Mahal is involved in this story and can ruin the fight against interference.
The initial prediction is that this match ends in No-Contest, but if there is a winner, we should not expect the Roode title to be interrupted.
Winner: Bobby Rude
Women’s SmackDown Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Ruby Riott
However, the trio of Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan could not muster enough momentum and send to the Smackdown locker room to notice.
Charlotte will be the winner and hopefully her match against Asuka will be announced on Sunday at the National Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Winner: Charlotte Flyer
Team Champions SmackDown Tag Uses vs New Day
It is expected that this fight will steal the show in Fastlane, as The Usos and The New Day will revitalize their rivalry.
Last year, two famous tag teams played some legendary games, and promises the same excitement.
But you should expect Jimmy and Jay Uso to keep the titles and defend them in “Mania” against “New Day” and “Brothers-Cudgels.”
WWE Champion AJ Styles Vs. John Cena vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zain vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler (Six-Pack Challenge Match)
And it’s time for our main event of the night.
He is about to die for Cena, but Champ is not expected to win this game because it is related to the dream of fighting Undertaker.
It is expected that the leader of Cenation will not appear in any Smackdown to Mania program, which means that he will surely work on the program with Taker in RAW.
The styles will come out victorious and, finally, they will begin to build their enmity with the former enemy of New Nakimura.
In the game, you can also see some interference from Smackdown screen commissioner Shane McMahon and CEO Daniel Bryan, who are involved in the plot with Owens and Zain.
Winner: AJ Styles
